When Dom first emailed me, I was sure it was some email spam (something that I have dealt with before). It’s not everyday I get an email from a couple that lives in the UK and looking to travel and elope to Colorado. We actually emailed back and forth a few times before I started to realize that this was a legitimate couple looking for a photographer, and when I did, I was so excited to meet Helen and Dom. One of the many things I love about my job is the people I get to meet. I now have clients in five different countries, but Helen and Dom were the first couple that came from another country to me.
Their elopement took place as part of a three week camper vacation all over Colorado. They planned the whole thing all the way from across the Atlantic with a few Skype meeting here and there. Together we found the perfect location in Vail for them to exchange their vows and devote their lives to one another mid-vacation. Elopements hold a special place in my heart because more than I not, I am one of the only other people there. This is something I never take lightly and treasure that my couple’s choose to share that sacred and special moment with me. I absolutely loved spending this special day with Helen and Dom and will never forget it!
A few weeks ago, I finally go to spend some good quality time in Aspen. The only time I have ever been here was when I went and hiked the Maroon Bells a couple years ago and that was just a day trip. But when Anne-Marie and Jace told me they wanted to explore Aspen for their engagement session, I was so excited! We originally planned on doing their engagement session at the Maroon Bells. However, this couple found some amazing spots on their adventures while they were vacationing, and let’s just say I wish I could hire them for all my scouting. The spots they found were beyond perfect. So they got me out of bed early, and we caught some morning light that complimented the spots they found flawlessly. And lucky for us, Aspen was unusually warm for mid-October and still had some fall color. Afterwards, we had a great breakfast at Main Street Bakery and then went to hike Sunnyside trail. I had so much fun hanging out with these two, and it definitely became a trip to remember!
One of the best things about my job is when I not only get to document peoples’ love stories, but also their life stories. It’s hard to think that it has been two years since I photographed Sarah & Alex’s wedding, let alone that they now have a precious eight-month old daughter, Edie. Time flies! But getting the opportunity to capture the story of their life together has been nothing short of wonderful, and it reminds me how truly wonderful this life can be. They are a precious, fun family, and I look forward to photographing more big moments in their life (and singing more of La Cucaracha to get Edie to smile)!
Emily and Evan met me last year over Skype while I was in Europe. I hadn’t even been there for 24 hours, and I nervously sat in front of the computer for my first ever virtual meeting with an eight hour time difference. How could anyone possibly book me without meeting me in person? Little did I know that in the weeks to come, I would not only find a new client, but a new friend. There are no words to truly describe my thanks for this bride. As I was homesick to come back to Colorado, she became my pen pal, sharing her own struggles as she had studied abroad in Costa Rica. And in the following months, after I returned to Colorado, she became such a light in my life. I have been so blessed to know Emily, and she has truly touched my heart with her unconditional friendship and support. Sometimes the right people come into your life at the right times.
Hi. I’m curious to find out where your clients, Helen and Dom, eloped in Vail. My fiance and I are planning a wedding for September 2nd, 2018. We will also need a photographer and are planning a reception in Edwards afterward. Would you also be able to quote a price? Thanks!
