McCullough Gulch Trail – Colorado Hiking

Name: McCullough Gulch
Location: White River National Forest – Blue River, CO
Length: 2.9 miles
Elevation Gain: 951 feet

This is one of my all time favorite hikes, especially in the fall! I love it because it’s a relatively moderate or easy hike all while still getting back into the mountains. And let’s face it, any hike that ends at an alpine lake is an automatic favorite. This also a great hike for people visiting Colorado to get a taste of the Rockies without dying from elevation gain during a hike. As you’re driving to the trailhead, you also get to take in the majesty of Quandary Peak, one of Colorado’s 53 14,000 foot mountains.

This was also Marlowe’s first hike with her pack. She wasn’t too thrilled with it at first, but she quickly learned that the pack meant hiking. So after that, she was blazing the trail in no time!

Fall is my favorite seasons here in Colorado. I enjoy the overcast days mixed with all the different colors!
