Julie and David came all the way from San Francisco to get the Rockies in their engagement photos. Julie being a University of Colorado alum has held the mountains near and dear to her heart. After graduating college, she went to visit a friend in San Fran and ended up canceling her return ticket. And it was good she did, because there she met David.
We had so much fun traveling up to Rocky Mountain National Park and despite the crazy wind, we got some amazing photos at Moraine Park and Sprague Lake. It was an adventure for me as well since I hadn’t been to either location. I had no idea we would have to hike around the lake to the dock in the photos. But Julie pulled it off, four inch heels, snow, and all! Such troopers!
Spending the day with Lindsey and Jason was like spending the day with lifelong friends! It’s like I’ve known them for years! Which was perfect since we drove down past Colorado Springs, on non-exisent roads, to Jason’s grandparents cabin for their engagement shoot. Lindsey is a creative herself (you should see how gorgeous and adorable her home is!), so when we talked about what they wanted for their engagement shoot, she immediately loved the idea of a theme. Using Jason’s beard and their love of the outdoors as inspiration, we came up with a mountain couple romance.
The trip took us along Phantom Canyon Road which is one of the most historic and scenic routes in Colorado. According to the Gold Belt Byway website, “The gravel road follows the route of the Florence & Cripple Creek Railroad built in 1894 as a connection from Florence to the goldfields of Cripple Creek and Victor.” It was gorgeous and was wonderful to spend a day without cell service just exploring the beautiful place we live! And Jason loved finding new places to go rock climbing!
Nothing like a last minute change in plans to get the creativity flowing! Ashley won a photo shoot from me at a silent auction to support the Lauren Project. We started making plans last fall, but then her husband got relocated with his job to Hawaii (not a bad place to relocate if you ask me!). While they were in town visiting for the holidays, I was supposed to finally photograph them and their adorable puppy, Tim. Unfortunately her husband got tied up, and it turned into an amazing sister shoot with her twin Megan! So as I snuggled up in the back seat with her pup, Tim, we drove to Horsetooth Reservoir and couldn’t have asked for a prettier view! We had a blast, and it really was like I was hanging out with my friends!
Denver was having the weirdest winter up until last week, so Tommy and I went on a mission to find some snow a few weeks ago to perfectly contrast his midnight blue tuxedo. We hopped in his little tan Fiat, and off we went on I-70 west. Little did we know that we would soon run into a snowstorm on our journey. Tommy’s knuckles were white, gripping the wheel of his awesome, yet not snow-compatible, car. We asked for snow, and we got it! We finally exited off the interstate at Silverthorne and ended up wandering to the perfect place for his photos! We couldn’t have gotten luckier, and I couldn’t be happier with the photos! Also check out my other sessions with Tommy: Take 1 & Take 2.
When Stacie reached out to me and asked me to photograph her and her siblings for a gift for their parents, she said, “I hope you’re ready for a little craziness.” And was I ever! These guys were so much fun! Especially little Jake! His personality soared as he made us all laugh with his funny faces and jokes. And of course the girls were as beautiful as ever! It was great to see all their personalities and ages mix together and how much they love each other!
