Knowing Laurene and Nima has been nothing short of a blessing in my life, and I was so happy to be able to photograph them before I left France. It was because of their kind hearts and giving spirits that I was able to take the adventure of a lifetime this year. They opened the doors to their home, agreeing to host me in France for two months. And they did this without ever expecting a thing! On top of that, they quickly became two of my closest friends, and I left with Laurene telling me that their home is my home while tears filled our eyes. I absolutely loved spending two months with them and already miss them more than anything. It’s hard leaving your heart in a different country, but I read a quote recently that said, “You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That’s the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.” I’m so lucky to have a home in more than one country.
These two are planning on getting married in 2015, so I know there will be another adventure to Europe in the near future. I can’t wait!
There is nothing like Italian wine country in the fall, and what better way to be in the midst of it than to take pictures of a beautiful couple in the vineyards. I have been traveling around Europe for the past couple months and have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people along the way. Florist and friend, Kristi Pohly of Fleur Decor, introduced me to Valerie and her british boyfriend, Evan, after I left for my travels. Valerie and Evan very kindly agreed to host me for a week at their home in Alba, Italy, which is a beautiful little town right in the middle of miles and miles of vineyards. The soon-to-be married couple and I decided it was only right to take advantage of the scenery. So we went back to where it all began…
Valerie herself is a travel bug, and met Evan during a two week adventure in Italy. They met outside of a restaurant called Vinoteca Centro Storico in Serralunga D’Alba (seen below, and which by the way is absolutely AMAZING). Soon, they began spending all their time together and in this very vineyard is where they fell in love. Several months later, Valerie packed her bags, left Colorado and moved to Italy to be with Evan who works with one of the local wineries in Alba. They are hoping to get married next year. If that isn’t a love story, I don’t know what is!
